Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I'm finishing most of the work that kept me busy for the past weeks. I'll take a look at the sample later today.
@max: there is a small chance that junkboy's last script will do a great job, but as he said you must see if the pattern doesn't break somewhere else. There is a big chance that it will break, but take a look and try it on different parts of the movie.

Updated AviSynth Plugins folder. Attention this is only for AviSynth 2.5.8! Highlights: - nnedi3 v0.9.2. It's faster! - SmoothAdjust v1.40. there is a folder called system32. Copy the 3 DLLs from that folder to \WINDOWS\system32. The equivalent folder on XP 64 is \WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Download: Multiupload | Mediafire | TinyUpload Previous version here: viewtopic.php?p=164751#p164751

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
It's a mix of 3:2 pulldown (the clips from the movie) and pure interlaced (interviews, photo's etc.). Sorry, I've never had to deal with a hybrid (I think that's what it's called?) source before, so either delve into the TIVTC documentation or wait for elguaxo to reply.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
The proper way to do this is using VFR (Variable Frame Rate). But if it's just some extra, then use just one of these:
Mostly Film TFM(mode=5,slow=2,clip2=NNEDI2()).TDecimate(hybrid=1)
Mostly Video TFM(mode=5,slow=2,clip2=NNEDI2()).TDecimate(hybrid=3)
I guess it's mostly video (I haven't downloaded the sample, so I'm just guessing), so try the second suggestion. The parts that come directly from the movie will get some dupes/blends.

whit this one Mostly Film TFM(mode=5,slow=2,clip2=NNEDI2()).TDecimate(hybrid=1) give me 23.976 fps it?s better but not totaly fixed whit this one Mostly Video TFM(mode=5,slow=2,clip2=NNEDI2()).TDecimate(hybrid=3) it?s better them the script above but is not totaly fixed also the frame give 29.970

The "video" parts are 29.97 fps and not only that, you could encode it @ ~ 60 fps if you want to keep the full temporal resolution of those parts, but I guess it's an overkill if it's just interviews. The film parts are 23.976 and/or 24fps. Again: elguaxo wrote: The proper way to do this is using VFR (Variable Frame Rate) But it's just a fucking extra! Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Thx Telmo, for ripping the interview! I've got a question about MCTemporal Denoise again. I keep getting this annoying error message about my clip not being a mod4 clip, and that I have to use crop() before MCTemporal Denoise(). But... I believe I already am using it before MCTemporal Denoise: Code: # SOURCE mpeg2source("C:\Rip\VTS_01_1.d2v")
YADIFMod(edeint=NNEDI2())
# CROPPING crop(12,72,698,432)
# SUBTITLES #VobSub("FileName")
MCTemporalDenoise(settings="very low")
# RESIZING Spline36Resize(704,384)

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Dunno about that error, but if you get it then use MCTemporalDenoise before cropping. You'll waste some additional CPU cycles denoising the black bars, but the error will go away: Code: # SOURCE mpeg2source("C:\Rip\VTS_01_1.d2v")
YADIFMod(edeint=NNEDI2())
MCTemporalDenoise(settings="very low")
# CROPPING crop(12,72,698,432)
# RESIZING Spline36Resize(704,384)

Hmmm... I'm completely lost with what to do with this PAL source. Could someone please take a look and point me in the right direction - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi ... 1250647144

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Well... they screwed this big time. It's a 4:3:3 pattern. Aliasing aside, this solves all the dupes and you'll get fluent motion, but you are left with a framerate of 15fps Code: DGDecode_mpeg2source("H:\videos\VTS_02_1.demuxed.d2v")
tfm().tdecimate(cycleR=4,cycle=10)
crop( 4, 6, -4, -6)

Yeah, I counted the 4:3:3 pattern but having never seen it before, I didn't know what to do with it. Looks like it's taking a visit to the recycle bin though

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
You see these strange patterns on many DVDs of silent movies (1936 or earlier) where the real framerate was somewhere around 20fps. But in this case... I guess the source was pure video and the guy who edited the DVD didn't know how to bring that to 25fps.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I did this during the downtime. Updated AviSynth Plugins folder. Attention this is only for AviSynth 2.5.8! Highlights: - SmoothAdjust v1.46. - QTGMC v2.47r. Basically it's TempGaussMC with presets which should be easier to use. - MaskTools 2.0a45. Attention, this might break some filters, so keep version 2.0a44 around. - FFMS2 v2.14. there is a folder called system32. Copy the 3 DLLs from that folder to WINDOWS\system32\. The equivalent folder on XP 64 is WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Download: Multiupload | Mediafire | TinyUpload Previous version here: viewtopic.php?p=166648#p166648

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I have DBRip with incorrect aspect ratio. Using latest MKVMerge i set aspect ratio to 4/3, but when I play the file with MPC-HC (latest version I think) there is no difference in AR. However, when I open the same file with VLC I see correct 4/3 AR. What does it mean, and is there a way to see correct AR with both players (I dislike VLC)? Thanks.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Uninstall your player/codecs, install CCCP which is basically a preconfigured bundle of MPC-HC, FFDShow, VSFilter and Haali Media Splitter and try again. Otherwise take a closer look at your setup. If VLC handles it, then MPC-HC, FFDShow and Haali Media Splitter should do it too.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Ok, there is the problem. The container is signaling one Pixel Aspect Ratio, but the video stream has still a different one: [ Video track ] Pixel aspect ratio: 128:171 = 0.748538
[ About H.264 encoding ] Aspect ratio: Custom pixel shape (1760:1767 = 0.996038) VLC is honoring one and MPC-HC/Haali Media Splitter/CoreAVC/FFDShow the other. There is a custom command in mkvmerge to delete the pixel aspect ratio inside the video stream, but of course I don't remember it. The other thing you could do is just changing the PAR (aka SAR) of the video stream. For that you need to demux the video track ( MKVExtractGUI-2), then change the PAR using Yamb and you'll output an MP4. Then remux that MP4 into an MKV using mkvmerge and done.
