Looking in number of threads, can I savely asume I need to change the next lines: Code: set NUMTHRD=!ERRORLEVEL! rem set NUMTHRD=1 rem set NUMTHRD=%NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS% into Code: rem set NUMTHRD=!ERRORLEVEL! rem set NUMTHRD=1 set NUMTHRD=%NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS% And set system var 'NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS' on 2 or 4? |

I've no idea But I thought the new version automagically detects number of processors and shit? |

It does but it doesn't select number of procs. Doing a LUX-70 now. It had selected level 85. |

I guess you should ask in the official doom9 thread, or maybe elguaxo knows. Vae Victis wrote: Doing a LUX-70 now. It had selected level 85. You mean the comptest was 85% ? Cause the level it would select is for the official presets not mine |

Ah okay then I'm not too sure about that range yet, that's with J2CD. But perhaps even that is enough for heini but with b-frames 2/1.62/0. My comp is slow like washed out shit so my testing is too slow. We'll see, your computer is fast |

Vae Victis wrote: It does but it doesn't select number of procs. Mine looks like this: Code: set NUMTHRD=!ERRORLEVEL! rem set NUMTHRD=1 set NUMTHRD=%NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS% set PP0=-threads !NUMTHRD! -progress 100 -overhead 0 -max_key_interval !KEYINT! I have 2 cores and they are being detected and used: Code: xvid [info]: Detected CPU flags: ASM MMX MMXEXT SSE SSE2 3DNOW 3DNOWEXT TSC xvid [info]: Detected cpus = 2, threads requested = 2, threads in use = 2 |

@elguaxo, ah yes just removing the rem bevore the %NUMBER_.. line fixes it. No need to set the environment var yourself, script does it itself. Code: xvid [info]: Detected CPU flags: ASM MMX MMXEXT SSE SSE2 TSC xvid [info]: Detected cpus = 4, threads requested = 4, threads in use = 4 |

Ah I see, I'll change that then!! How's the encode going btw Vae? |

Whoah fast bugger What's the target bitrate and the average current bitrate of the pass? BTW uploaded the version with removed rem in that line. |

Code: Trying to retrieve width and height from input header xvid [info]: Avisynth detected xvid [info]: Input colorspace is YV12 xvid [info]: Input is 704 x 416, 25.000fps (25000/1000), starting from frame 0 xvid [info]: Number of frames to encode: 157829, Bitrate = 2521kbps xvid [info]: xvidcore build version: xvid-1.2.0-dev xvid [info]: Bitstream version: 1.2.-127 xvid [info]: Detected CPU flags: ASM MMX MMXEXT SSE SSE2 TSC xvid [info]: Detected cpus = 4, threads requested = 1, threads in use = 1 109901 frames( 69%) encoded, 24.93 fps, Average Bitrate = 1550kbps Seems it got stuck for some reason. cpu usage is zero :? [edit] or not, just hit 70%.... weird. [edit2] looks like I've plenty of bitrate left. umn.. |

Post subject: | |
Hmmmm the bitrate difference is quite big, I think it might undersize, let's wait and see. If it does it would be a good thing cause you'll be able to use a better matrix edit: me thinks of a new preset between 70 and 80 |
Author: | Vae Victis [ Sun Jun 24, 2007 7:36 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
Lets see what it brings. it's on 88%. must have been a glitch or something. |

Yeah testing like this will bring us closer to more precise preset selction. PS there will defo be a preset 75. Basically same as 80 but with b-vops 2/1.62/0 which should make it a nice middle! As I said earlier in this thread, from my short experience, the bitrate difference in first pass should be like 400- let's say 700 lower than desired to reach the filesize and quant quality. But yes, let's wait and see |

Well since gknot died pretty much on all computers in the house (can't load d2v files anymore) I've to try Lux's way Where to start? |
Author: | Lux Delux [ Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:07 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
First thread? For starters make an .avs for the crapper you'll encode. Then you just need to run a comptest and select a preset according that comptest. I explained how to do that in the first thread. If you have any questions just ask, and buttfuck me too |
Author: | El Mariachi [ Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:18 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
Well I did all that and moved the avs, let's call it crap.avs, into the avs2qxvid.bat folder. then what? |
Author: | Vae Victis [ Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:19 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
you need to keep the avs in the same folder you made it. and DRAG it on the batch file. Not move it to that dir. |
Author: | Lux Delux [ Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:20 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
No no no ---> Vae beat me to it You don't move anything anywhere. You have you crap.avs and your crap.enc.txt in a separate folder and you just drag the .avs onto the .bat proggy. It will then open and start running the comptest. Just remember to have Code: COMPTEST 1190MB inside the text file where 1190 I put as an example for the video size. |

Lux Delux wrote: Hmmm did you download the one I uploaded few hours ago? Yeah when I drag the sample.avs it does something. It makes a sample mkv file and a sample avi file both are black/white interlaced lines with a loud sound. |
