Knowing the taste in movies that we share, it's quite possible that the new Ghostbusters could make about thousand times more money than "your" movie, hence the chances of Ghostbusters to actually get filmed are about thousand times better

I think it's pretty clear which one will make it to the production stage first Mind you, I agree with you here, and as much as I'd love to see Venkman kicking some ghost-ass again, I'd love to see Im Westen nichts Neues filmed even more - I must admit that I never saw the original movie, but the book is a masterpiece Although I'd prefer to see a European (Deutsch, if possible) take on that story rather than a Hollywood one
