When I saw the title, my first reaction was positive, but then I started to wonder - could this ruin some of the movies' magic?

OK, so this means I can take Manos off my "to rip" list? I 'only' have the DVD ;)

The guy seems to be doing a decent restoration job on this. He raised the needed U$S10000 very quickly and it seems he'll get a lot more, so we can expect a nice Bluray full of extras. ^^

Cool, one less movie Criterion has to worry about.

Movie "magic": unless the director wanted the image to be crappy I dislike shitty a/v in either bad and good films.

Manos in HD will be the apex of the blu-ray format, it's all downhill after that.

I don't doubt the guys' skills, I've read your links and the guy seems legit. What I meant to say it that the crappy and grainy picture gave Manos some extra quality, IMHO. Maybe it's the nostalgic moment, as I remember watching those kinds of movies on crappy pirate VHS from a local video rental  Or something else, dunno.

Generally speaking, I enjoy better quality movies like the next guy, but there are some exceptions that prove the rule. Like, color movies are - generally speaking again - more enjoyable than B&W movies, but that doesn't mean that someone should add color to Psycho, does it?

My 2 cents...
