Post Need to buy DVDs
The average life of a normal DVD is 5-8 years?
I've noticed how a lot of my burned CDs are starting to show their age.

which brand of DVD has treated you all the best?
but too terribly expensive? :dump:

5 to 8 years ? Really ? We are going from bad to worst
Video and audio tapes live longer.

I started burning crap back in 1996, I remember at that point they put expire dates on the boxes.
These discs are now 11 years old and still working.

Whatever you do, dont buy nashua, they tend to turn yellow faster than others.

Well the writable DVD media I use is Memorex, Fujifilm, TDK, Sony, and even the generic COmpUSA brand, BUT I stay away from Verbatim, Ritek, Nashua and Taito becuz they have sucked in the past. Different burners react differently to different medias though (go figure). My 16x drive with 16x Memorex only burns it at max 8x... you get the idea.

I buy Philips DVDs for the 4.7 ones and Verbatim for the DL
Philips only has 10 pieces a DL spindle

I used to buy Platinum, but I got lots of errors when burning.
I never fucked up my Verbatim. And I can honestly say I really have bought a lot of them :D

Hmm I haven't used them in over a year (Verbatim), but I've bought 2 Verbatim spindles and both were very unreliable batches. Though again this may be a case of my burner not liking them.

Could be, my old Sony disliked certain brands.
I've a NEC for a while now. It's almost dying...

I like butts

I just looked through some old CDRs and they are fine, even ones burnt in 1998! FOr rare stuff, 2 copies is always a good idead, I have a storage that never gets touched or exposed to hold onto stuff I think might disappear, or personal shit.
