Well I was wondering.

Since I have a PC as well for watching movies I was checking out the channels.
Most AC3 movies that I have 5 channels. De LFE channel isn't there.

But if I check Rambo 2 for instance, the explosion in the beginning, the LFE channel goes right up.
That seems like true 5.1

Most other rips seem like 5.0

Can anyone explain how this works. Do DVDs normally have an LFE included or is that just marketing tricks on the back?

Or maybe the LFE channel is hardly used?

Well I know that the LFE is rarely used because most audio systems won't even decode it. Depending on the system, subwoofers generally get the bass frequencies from the L/C/R front channels, regardless of LFE. And when mixing 5.1, that channel is used sparingly because it muddies up other sounds. So it only will show signal during necessary explosions or what-not.
