Preparing, Obtaining, Connecting
First make your server options look like this:

1. disconnect from current server
2. delete all servers
3. enable "Filter servers too" (Options/Security)
4. update IPfilter: http://bluetack.co.uk/config/nipfilter.dat.gz (Options/Security/"Update from URL")
5. update serverlist: http://peerates.net/servers.php ("Servers" tab/"Update server.met from URL")
6. connect to any server (just press the "Connect" button in "Servers" window)
7. go to the "Search" tab
8. select "Server" as "Method"
9. now search for something well known on the current server your connected to
10. if no results come up the IPfilter might be blocking the search (for good reasons i hope), disconnect, delete the server, connect to another, repeat step 9
11. when good results appear, stop, you have a clean server list and are connected to a good server, well done.

Maintaning the list
Only ever update your serverlist if/when Bluetack updates there IPfilter (usually once every one/two weeks)
Check for updates at http://bluetack.co.uk/bims/filters/ (only ever use the normal list "nipfilter.dat.gz")
then, when there's an update:

1. disconnect
2. update IPfilter: http://bluetack.co.uk/config/nipfilter.dat.gz
3. connect to any server
4. repeat steps 9,10,11 above

But to be serious, I dont use the serverlist anymore. I never know what I'm connecting to.
KAD is safer.

a common misconception, i know alot about ed2k network and KAD is not "safer".

i use KAD and servers because i want to let everyone have a chance in getting my rare files. (i.e. some clients don;t support passive or sorce exchance soo never have a chance in getting on my queue, also KAD needs servers to index nodes, without servers KAD would collapse)

Actually, with everyone to KAD all the servers would collapse.
People have files. Servers dont, people log on to a server to share files
Why not skip the server and spread the love and anusses.
