Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A
Hey guys, I've ripped this movie London Conspiracy (1976) and I don't what reason it has black bars on the right (sometimes on the left). I'm getting crazy with it.. I'd want to know if this is a bad source, or a bad cropping (I think it isn't cuz all the 1,33 AR tried I get the same black bars). Could you please analyze these screenshots for me? 576x432 - same black bars 512x384 - still same black bars Many thx in advance..

Do you auto crop or manually crop?

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A
Try auto-crop first and then crop by pixel. Don't always trust on auto-crop tools.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A
It could be that you are dealing with moving borders. Which means that sometimes there is a black bar on the left, then on the right, then on both sides, sometimes a bit wider sometimes not... That's a pain in the ass. You'll have to remove them by cropping scene by scene. However all screenshots seem to have the same border. Which means that your cropping is incorrect and you should buy glasses.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A
"Windows Error" & "Access Violation" Looks like mc_spuds crashes. Does the error persist if you remove the call to mc_spuds?

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A
It's a tricky one telmo. You'll need to restore it to 23.976fps Code: Load_Stdcall_Plugin("D:\megui\tools\yadif\yadif.dll") Import("d:\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\srestore.avs")
DGDecode_mpeg2source("H:\videos\samples\lol.he_he_he_he.d2v",info=3)
Yadif(order=0,mode=1) srestore()
crop( 36, 84, -24, -84) LanczosResize(656,368)
Yadif: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=124284SRestore: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=95924The script is not perfect, because the scratches of the source don't let srestore do its work. You can tweak it with a denoised clip for srestore to improve the blend detection.

If you have moving borders you basically have 2 choices: 1) Find crop values that eliminate most black borders and live with the rest. -> No AR problems but some black borders) 2) Use custom cropping like in my script. But since you can't have different target ARs in the same file (like 704x400 in some sequences and 740x384 in others), you'll lose some accuracy with regard to AR. Decissions, decissions... Page 50 and a couple of 'em before that

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A
Thanks. That's what I was talking about too. I thought you developed a script that does all that automatically.
