Post No sound with certain xvid series
I've no sound (anymore) with certain episodes of series I downloaded

I've installed Fraunhofer MPEG Layer-3 Audio Decoder and downloaded Lame 3.98 Final, but it is missing the ACM file so I can register it.

Gspot is a lying sack of shit.
It says I've installed 1 codec, yet I can't hear anything

The codec is:
0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3
48000Hz 128 kb/s tot , Joint Stereo LAME3.98b

Well I have Lame 3.98b installed

1) Try a portable player (doesn't install or need any codecs) and see if you get sound and everything. This one is great: MPlayer Portable
2) if the portable player can handle it, then uninstall all your codecs and install CCCP. CCCP is a preconfigured pack that includes just Haali MediaSplitter, FFDShow (for audio and video), VSFilter (subs) and Media Player Classic or Zoomplayer

If you don't get any sound with MPlayer Portable, then I guess the problem is the file your are trying to play?!

Well here's an update

VLC player does the job, but I dont want to play with that player. I like solving things first.
One of the series I was trying to play is Eureka.S03E04.I.Do.Over.HDTV.XviD-BAJSKORV.avi [350.11 Mb]

I could install Lame 3.98 Final, but still no luck.

I also installed CCCP which didn't help either

see what your directshow codec-chain is doing by using graphedit.

Open graphedit.
Open MPC and play the file that has no sound.
Go to graphedit -> File -> Connect to Remote Graph and chose the one option you are getting
Make a screenshot of the graphedit Graph

:cum:

edit: an AVI with MP3 looks like this on my system

I've been using K-Lite Codec Pack for quite some time and haven't encountered any problems whatsoever.

I know it's lame but serves me a good job. :D

Dude you rock!

I had this one in the past, I removed it and went CCCP.
I re-installed K-Lite Codec Pack 4.17 and all my worries are gone.

Sound is good and pixelated garbage is gone

:bang:
