I wanted to start a thread for benefit of reference, that users may find useful. There are a few standards going around p2p these days, but a site like this (that works with a certain type of entertainment) can use all the help it can get to build up solid collections of, in this case, bad films.

So many fans out there own/possess really great bad films on VHS/DVD, but have no idea how to get things out and up. For one thing, the lack of Chuck Norris movies on p2p is a travesty.

So many some of the experienced members here can post some tips/tricks/suggestions/standards found to be "proper". I have many 2 cents of my own to give, to be sure, and my own standards. I feel that sometimes, 'scene rips' are a major let down, as these peeps should know better.

Lets discuss some basics, and I'll add to this first post as the plot unfolds. Okay? Go!

My plugins directory: http://omploader.org/vd3A3/plugins.7z

similar to the older ones. It includes GrainFactory3.avs (great script by Did?e), MCTemporalDenoise.v1.0beta5.avs, SmoothLevels.v1.0beta1.avs and a tweaked version of mc_spuds.avs.

The artifacts introduced by MC_Spuds can be solved using a lower thscd1 and thscd2, which is what I tweaked and/or you can pre-filter less than the defaults.

Haven't tried the latest SRestore prerelease, I included just the latest stable.

And I'm also waiting for a newer version of AnimeIVTC, so it's not included at all.

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

In case someone wants to try a different GUI:

AutoMKV 0.98.1
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=140178
http://automkv.a.wiki-site.com/index.php/Main_Page

Needed:
A recent build of AviSynth 2.5.7 http://downloads.sourceforge.net/avisynth2/Avisynth_257.exe?modtime=1168199840&big_mirror=0
The XviD Koepi Build http://www.free-codecs.com/Koepi_XviD_download.htm , is needed for the YV12 Decoder!
FFdshow as decoder http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow-tryout/ffdshow_beta4a_rev1723_20071224_clsid.exe?modtime=1198511934&big_mirror=0
Haali Media Spitter (for MKV input) http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/MatroskaSplitter.exe

Optional:
For use NERO AAC you must put your copy of NeroAacEnc.exe (grab it here http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nerodigital-nero-aac-codec.php) into \exe\besweet folder

--

It's ugly and cluttered, but it does the basics: bitrate calculator, manual cropping and muxing. NET 2.0 is not needed, just unpack and you are ready to go. It does not replace the bigger GUIs, but if you want a small alternative, this is it.

My repack, includes x264 build 1024 and 2 of my own MeGUI x264 profiles translated for AutoMKV ([gx]_insane and 1pass): http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi ... 0690364736

Hey guys, I'm finishing download & will be ripping soon:

The.Dark.Knight.2008.PAL.DVDR-TheCrown

TheCrown is a very good source, I've ripped The Incredible Hulk from this group before.

My question:

The movie is too big 152min. Which size would be nice? Considering that I want better quality and playing in all standalones..

Something like 1,7GB?

Really don't know, hope you help. :cheer:

1/2 DVD aprox. 2238MB and share also a splitting batch for people who can't play files over 2GBs on their standalones. Here you have a howto: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8808

heh, and don't rip reencodes like telmo says!

what you use to make your one compressibility test ???

Author:  elguaxo [ Thu Nov 13, 2008 2:55 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

Tests on a small percentage of the video tend to be inaccurate. I do a full first pass to see the compressibility. It's 100% accurate ;)

What does the LOG file say?

If you want to change the bitrate manually, then do it editing the profile. I think the default value is 1000kbps.
