Would you guys mind taking a look at these 1min samples at different bitrates? Thoughts? Greatly appreciated. :)

@sense

I really had a hard time telling them apart during normal viewing! I just didn't like the backgrounds @ 877 so much, so I'd go for 1/3DVD:

877 (top) vs. 1321 (middle) vs. 1902 (bottom):

Thanks to junkboy my problems with the MeGui bitrate calculator are over.
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154441

I used the SA version and that seems to be giving correct results. Double checked it against the MeGui bitrate calculator and that one still gave 'false' results.

I didn't know it was available as a standalone app. I think it's time to delete MeGUI. Thanks! :ere:

Am having a hard thyme figuring the right deinterlacing method to use on this one.
Image

Here's a sample.

It seems it contains some blending. I've tried:
Code:
tfm(pp=7, cthresh=8, chroma=true).tdecimate()
Vinverse()

But without much success!

Can anyone recommend what would work best on it?

Mainland China is PAL and Hong Kong is NTSC. This kind of shit happens all the time when something produced in one side gets released on the other side. You must restore this one to 25 fps. Maybe one or two blends will slip through, but it will fix almost everything.

Code:
Import("D:\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\SRestore.avs")

DGDecode_mpeg2source("I:\videos\sample.d2v")

d = last.bob(-0.2,0.6).reduceflicker(strength=1).crop( 4, 0, -4, 0)
yadifmod(mode=1, edeint=nnedi2(-2))
SRestore(dclip=d,mode=-2,cache=5)

crop( 4, 0, -4, 0)

Sorry man, I would but I don't use MeGui, so I can't really help much. All I can tell you is that Telmo was suggesting you run a compressibility check before you run the encode to help avoid oversized/undersized rips.

i run a compress test whit this

Image

the size is 2/3 :hihi:

and whit this script
Quote:

DGSource("ass.dgi")
Crop(80, 10, -80, -18)
Spline36resize(720,576)
MCTemporalDenoise(settings="very low",GPU=false,enhance=true,sharp=false)

any ideias ??? i know if i increase the size will be good but is already to big :D

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

If the Bluray is really shitty as you say, you could do a 480p instead of a 576p!

resize to 720x480 and to calculate the SAR instead of using

Code:
          4*X
SAR = -----
          5*Y

use

Code:
          2*X
SAR = -----
          3*Y

yeahhhhh i will do that :bisou: :bisou: :gayflag: :dance:

belive it or not but in another day i ask to my self if the formula was the same of 576p :hihi:

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

The frame size is 17% smaller. If the compressibility is that bad you'll still need a big filesize, but it will be better than trying a 576p.

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

whit the same script 480p , cmd and whit 3223 bitrate [1/2] it give 20.53

i think i will cancel this spagethi movie
:cry:

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

Just do the math. 480p is just 17% smaller than 576p, but you still chose a filesize that's 25% smaller than your previous try. :roll:

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

Don't expect miracles from going to 480p. The filesize of your first try, 2/3DVD, is not good enough for 576p, but should be ok for 480p.

MCTemporalDenoise keeps saying this clip is not MOD4 even though I have no cropping specified and the resolution is 1920x1080, WTF?

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. II

Are you using the latest version? If yes, then post the bug @ doom9.

I've used the latest version on a few scripts, but they were mod16. 1920x1080 is not mod16, so dunno if there is a problem for MCTD with that resolution.

I'll crop for mod16 and check (& yes using latest version).

Yeah cropped to mod16 Crop(0,4,-0,-4) and it loaded up, complains it's not mod4 but doesn't work with mod4, only 16 :hihi:
