Post Simple freeware avi to DVD converter
I have NeroVision, but with it I can't add subtitles to DVD. I need something similar to ConvertXtoDVD, but freeware. Any suggestions?

What kind of subtitles do you want to add to your DVD? Is it like adding an SRT-Textfile as a VobSub?

I have no idea mate. I haven't done this yet.

You could take a look at these:

http://forum.videohelp.com/topic298122.html
http://www.my-guides.net/en/content/view/100/26/

I've been using TMPEGEnc and TMPEGEnc DVD Author for all my DVD authoring tasks. TMPEGEnc DVD Author can import SRT files:

Thanks for the suggestions. In the meantime, I managed to do it in two steps - hardocoded the subs with AviDemux (I'm really starting to like this proggy) and then burned it to DVD with NeroVision. Looks rather good for such a transfer, especially on a 5 year old 29" CRT Panasonic

My wife's grandmother  wants to watch some old classics but no way that she can cope with 3 xvids on one DVD-R and separate subs.

So I have to try this. Thanks.

it looks good! how about the subtitles? Does it handle idx/sub, srt and/or ASS/SAA ?
Does it have some basic authoring options? Something that lets you do a simple static screen menu?

I've also seen this one for windows, but I haven't tried it yet: http://avstodvd.googlepages.com/home

I usually do AVI to DVD conversions manually, but a good 1-click tool would be nice.

No problem :cheer:

It's pretty straightforward, but if you need any help, just ask ;)
