i want to watch some shitty movies, but i'm getting very frustrated with emule. :wallbash: i'm getting only hundreds of bytes a second. i have not seen speeds anywhere near this since the days when i was forced to use aol dialup. what the hell am i doing wrong guys? all the arrows are nice and green. i took every movie link i think except for one on the oldest page of the scifi/fantasy/horror section last night, and i'm not getting any action worth noting. how long do you usually have to sit in a queue before you get good speeds? why do you prefer emule over bittorrent? i'm not trying to be an asshole i just want to know, and if someone could help me tweak emule somehow that would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you read this for starters:
http://sbigare.us/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18

Just make sure you installed a good mod of eMule and not the official one, that the ports eMule will use are open, you have a high ID (green arrows), a bunch of files in your queue (about 20 for starters) and you keep it running for as long as possible, 24/7 if possible. That way you don't get thrown back into the end of the queue ;)
Also dependant on the sources the download speeds differ much and also then you have to consider other people's connections aswell. Grab a fresh released AFR encode and see what speeds you get on that.

can you suggest a mod for emule that i should use? i've tried two different mods so far, one that was linked to from this forum, and both of them come up with errors.

like right now i just installed the second one i had a problem with, it's called emule xtreme. i can't get any of your ed2k links to work. it says something about an unexpected parameter. i can't use a .met file to update the server list anymore either. comes up with the same error. what the hell am i doing wrong?

What's a good for linux users? I have amule but I don't think it's that great.

Post subject:  Re: emule

amule is a good replacement of the standard windows emule, but it doesn't have the smat releasers' options you see in the mods. Last time I tried I couldn't use StulleMule through wine, but MorphXT runs fine.

If your resources are limited and you can't run a full desktop interface + wine, then use amule. If you can install a desktop interface + wine, then MorphXT will offer you many options that amule doesn't have.

Ok how do I change the Global Data rate under Friends? It's set to 3kb and I click on it but can't change it.

When I give someone a friendslot they go down to 3kb/sec :(

Edit: Fixed, small wine issue, had to maneuver blindly with the left key :P

Click harder! Maybe it's a Linux/Wine thingy. Close your mule, search for eMule\config\preferences.ini and edit these:

GlobalDataRateFriend=0
GlobalDataRatePowerShare=0
MaxClientDataRateFriend=0
MaxClientDataRatePowerShare=0
MaxClientDataRate=0
MaxGlobalDataRateFriend=100
MaxGlobalDataRatePowerShare=100

I think that's all.

I use aMule SVN and compile myself. The devs are soo helpful, and I think using native software is far better (supporting your own, with patch submissions and bug fixes)

On a side note, I use Wine 1.1.40 for numerous of programs (mainly old windows games ATM), and they seem to run better (faster/stable) in a linux environment.

Yes! you should leave a little overhead room otherwise a maximized upload or download speed will saturate your connection and mess with everything else.

For starters:

What's your "real" maximum upload speed? The maximum upload speed of your mule plus the maximum upload speed of azureus shouldn't go above 80% of your total upload speed.

What's your "real" maximum download speed? The maximum download speed of your mule plus the maximum download speed of azureus shouldn't go above 80% of your total download speed.

80% is a safe percentage. If everything stabilizes @ 80% increase the download speed so that emule + azureus download equals 90% of your "real" download speed.

Another thing you could do is switching from azureus to utorrent. It has something called uTP that ensures that its download/upload doesn't saturate your connection.

Post subject:  Re: emule

You probably have to limit both the upload and download speeds of both programs.

Post subject:  Re: emule

my real speed is dow 12 mb upload 1 mb

i am donwloading whit azureus at 900 kbs and upload speed 5 kbs and my emule is saturate coz i have 9 upload slots open whit a speed 60 kbs

whit a older azureus version never hapened i was donwloading at 1.1 to 1.3 mb and emule running whit upload speed 90 kbs and was very stable

yes utorrent is much better is much lighter and more easy to use it?s simple :haha:

i need to read more topics

Post subject:  Re: emule

Your connection is saturating at the values you are using. But don't blame azureus or emule, maybe in the past your connection was better and you were able to download @ 1.3 mb and upload @ 90 kbs because of that. That's why I asked about your "real" connection speed. One thing is what your ISP says, but the real speeds are usually different.

edit: my connection saturates easily when downloading from newsgroups. I had to limit the speed and the amount of simultaneous connections otherwise my mule and torrents die.
