But what is your question? What do you already know? ;)

Post Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
First of all, thanks for replying. :)

For a start I know that I can use DVD Decryter to extract DVD-Video. I once did a rip of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof using Auto Guardian Knot. But that was it. If someone told me I needed to use sharpening tools, conforming to AFR standards, Aspect Ratios, De-noising, encoding in x264 format instead, et al, I'd have been clueless.

Really, I do not know much about this ripping business, so I am willing to learn the tricks that will help me in achieving a near-perfect encoded rip. Lately, I have been fascinated by the idea of ripping movies in x264 format, so I'd want to encode my next DVD in that format. Along the way I'd want to familiarize myself with all the ripping jargon.

I guess you get the picture of where I am coming from. :clown:

I'd say the way to go would be to start off with a GUI (Handbrake, Megui, AutoMKV etc.) and work your way up to scripting, manual encoding etc. Doom9, Doom10 and Videohelp are good resources for information.

If you used AutoGK then maybe first plain GK, but first I would follow some links junkboy gave and read into some stuff. If you got a feel for it and think most basic stuff is easy I would go for cmd encoding.

Updated AviSynth Plugins folder. Attention this is only for AviSynth 2.5.7!

Highlights:
- dfttestMC. I made a tiny modification to make it compatible with AviSynth 2.5.7.
- ffms r312. Downloaded via MeGUI's Update.
- SmoothAdjust v1.26.

there is a folder called system32. Copy the 4 DLLs from that folder to \WINDOWS\system32. I think the equivalent folder on XP 64 is \WINDOWS\SysWOW64\

Download: Multiupload | Mediafire | TinyUpload

For the same source I'm using selectevery(5,0,1,2,4) for the pulldown, but the pattern changes to selectevery(5,0,1,3,4). It seems to work ok, but is this the right way to apply the change in the pattern?

Code:
a=selectevery(5,0,1,2,4).trim(0,32701)
b=selectevery(5,0,1,3,4).trim(32702,128085)
c=(a+b)
c.

They fucked the colors. Blur them like there is no tomorrow! And the pulldown pattern is bound to change. This worked for me:

Code:
DGDecode_mpeg2source("I:\red.d2v")

tfm(pp=0).tdecimate()

FFT3DFilter(sigma=16,sigma2=10,sigma3=6,sigma4=4,plane=3,bt=5,bw=32,bh=32)

Image

Denoise/Blur the chroma planes a bit more if necessary.

Thanks elguaxo :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

So, that'll explain why ConvertToRGB() didn't do anything then. Upsampling to RGB within DGDecode is partially successful at fixing the chroma problem though. Anyway, filtering the chroma with FFT3DFilter looks to do a nice job in the screen shot, and I'll see how tfm fares with those duplicate frames :)

Most of the artifacts are around the higher frequencies (sigma and sigma2). Something like this should help even more:

fft3dfilter(sigma=16,sigma2=6,sigma3=1,sigma4=0.1,bw=16,bh=16,ow=8,oh=8,bt=3,plane=3)

Attention!

If you are remuxing an encode with MKVToolnix 4.1.0 or above, disable the option Compression for all the audio tracks:

Image

Explanation: http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoo ... ompression

Apparently the WDTV can't play audio when the encode was remuxed with this option. According to the link above it's a problem of the WDTV. I'm sure a firmware update will fix this soon, until then don't use this option. If you can't play the audio of an encode remuxed with this option enabled, then just remux it again disabling it.

eac3to fixed it for you. Now watch the episode once the encode is done to see if everything is fine.

Dunno if this is important but at some point the sequence of m2ts you are concatenating is not linear. For example:

00096.m2ts+00119.m2ts+00098.m2ts+00100.m2ts+00120.m2ts+00102.m2ts+00103.m2ts

How do you get the sequence of m2ts for each episode?

i know the m2ts files may not be in sequence :haha: :cheer:

so the sequence can be 1 - 2 - 3-7 - 4 - 8-23 it?s stupid but is true :haha:

and i see the sequence by whatching all the m2ts files :cracked: :cracked:

frames 0 - 146885 needs Crop(2,132,-2,-132) 1916x816

frames 146886 - 207383 needs Crop(6,132,-2,-132) 1912x816

So my two options would be either to pick one of the crop values and just go with it or
figure out segmented encoding right?

Is this the kind of thing you mean by segmented encoding?...

Code:
a=trim(0,146885).Crop(2,132,-2,-132).spline36resize(1916,816)
b=trim(146886,207383).Crop(6,132,-2,-132).spline36resize(1912,816)
c=(a+b)
c. further filtering....

Is this the kind of thing you mean by segmented encoding?...

Code:
a=trim(0,146885).Crop(2,132,-2,-132).spline36resize(1916,816)
b=trim(146886,207383).Crop(6,132,-2,-132).spline36resize(1912,816)
c=(a+b)

Post Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Am I missing something or do I need to do something else? With:

a=trim(0,146885).Crop(2,132,-2,-132).spline36resize(1024,436)
b=trim(146886,207383).Crop(6,132,-2,-132).spline36resize(1024,436)
c=(a+b)

I get an error: Not a Clip
