instead of that last line c=(a+b) write just a ++ b

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Thanks a lot. Maybe something for the folder: http://digitalfoundry.org/andrew/avisource_cxf2.dllIt is a modified version of AviSource that can open CXF2 (fourcc) video files. That strange codec is used by my capture card. You need to import the plugin and it automagically replaces AviSource with a version that can handle the codec. original thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=128189

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I need help with this badly encoded video: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi ... 1651798205I figured out that it has blended frames and wrong frame rate (29.976 instead of 23.976). So I tried this: Code: d = last.bob(-0.2,0.6).reduceflicker(strength=1) MCBob2() SRestore(dclip=d,mode=-2,cache=5) The result is strange. I get the video with only 5960 frames instead of the original 114000 and none of the blends are removed?! It looks like the pattern is: [frame OK] [frame OK] [frame OK] [frame blended] [frame blended] Probably the ripper used a deinterlacer with blendning on, instead of IVTC. Any ideas?

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I'd imagine with it already being encoded, it'll be unfixable. If I'm right(?), you need the original fields for frame rate restoration/blend decimation filters like srestore.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I think this DVD source is just fux0red in some way or the other. After applying TIVTC am left with some kind of blend/blur after ever few progressive frames: Sample here. Is there any suitable filter to get rid of the blurring effect or should I just drop this shit source?

I'll take a look later, but the screenshot seems to be just motion blur and not a blend.

There's a field order change in the sample though, so you'll need to fix those (if there are any more) when you're preparing the VOB's, medusa. Other than that, it looks fine after tfm().tdecimate()

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
OK DGindex fixed the field order transition. Concerning the motion blur, do u think it's negligible or is it somehow compromising the quality?

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Motion blur is motion blur, it was filmed that way. Poor lighting and slow shutter speed and there you have it. I doubt there is much you can do about it in post production.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
This seems to do the trick: * remove blended frames (double-blend-removal) from 29.976 material * IVTC Code: SRestore(omode="pp3", speed=-30, mode=-1) TDecimate()

I didn't have the time to download your sample yet, but it seems you cracked it already!

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I switched to XP Pro x64 AviSynth X86_64 lacks many plugins and stability, but AviSynth 2.5.8 MT (x86)'s multithreading is more stable than 2.5.7. So that's what I'll use from now on. Uninstall everything, check that no avisynth.dll is left and here is a 2.5.8 MT (x86) installer: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p ... ost1412274Updated AviSynth Plugins folder. Attention this is only for AviSynth 2.5.8! Highlights: - eedi3 v0.9.1 and nnedi2 v1.6. there is a folder called system32. Copy the 3 DLLs from that folder to \WINDOWS\system32. The equivalent folder on XP 64 is \WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Download: Multiupload | Mediafire | TinyUpload Previous version here: viewtopic.php?p=161636#p161636

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Should that work with a 32bit Win XP too? A better MT would be awesome.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
So that you know what to expect. When I test a multithreaded script I preview 50 frames, then jump somewhere else and preview other 50 frames, if it works then it's usually fine. But I have some very few scripts that crash after 400 or more frames. A few of those problematic scripts that failed on AviSynth 2.5.7 work fine with 2.5.8 MT.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
Yes, that is pretty much what I used to do. Previewing however often crashes, whereas the encode runs fine.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
One more blended VHSrip that I encountered and am trying to "fix". Here's what I tried so far: Code: crop(46,0,-50,-16) # ADJUST CONTRAST/BRIGHTNESS converttoyuy2() ColorYUV(off_y=-4, gain_y=+116, opt="coring").Tweak(bright=0, cont=1, sat=1.2, coring=false) # REMOVING BLENDED FRAMES ConvertToyv12() srestore(omode="pp1",speed=-25, mode=-1, thresh=12).tdecimate() # DEBLOCKING deblock_qed(quant1=30,quant2=60) dfttest(sigma=0.7,tbsize=3) # SHARPEN LSFMod(dest_x=512,dest_y=384) GrainFactory3(g1str=4, g2str=5, g3str=16, g1shrp=10, g2shrp=20, g3shrp=30)
Unfortunately the double-blend removal results in a heavily over-sharpened frame. Check the frame on the right which is the frame after the one on the left. The next frame is normal - like the left one. It's the Srestore() function that intruduced the frame and I would like to know if I can do something about that. Here's a small sample: http://rapidshare.com/files/411617176/sample.aviThanks for any kind of help!

I've not played around with it much, but omode="pp2" lessens the dark halo type effect slightly, so maybe try adding your own postprocessing as well?

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
I'll take a look, but double blends are a bitch. I've never been satisfied when trying to restore these things. B0rked NTSC <-> PAL conversion is another story and restoring "regular" blends in these cases is usually good to perfect.

Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III
*Yawn* /me is back from hibernation in ripping land. I've got this question: is there a way you can tilt the image? I have zoned cropping and sometimes it looks like on the picture below. Now if I could tilt the picture to the right for a few degrees, I would have to chop off less image in order to create a nice looking result (without overdoing it of course ). If there is none, please tell me, then I'll chop all black stuff off.
