OK, thanks. I checked if DGMPGDec was there, and I have it in a separate folder in my Gordian Knot folder.

I tried importing it directly from that folder, didn't work. I made a new d2v, same thing. The preview in GK also keeps saying "cannot render the file".

I copied the dll junkboy mentioned into my Avisynth plugins folder, but it turned out I already had one (version 1.5.8).

Could it be that it has something to do with the fact that I only selected a part of one VOB to make the d2v?

Sounds like you might be loading more than one different version of DGDecode.dll and they're conflicting. Make sure there's only one.

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

In my Avisynth Plugins folder there is only one DGDecode.dll

For this clip I wanted to rip I found a solution (I used VDubMod to re-encode the GK rip I had made of the VOB), and maybe it was just this specific DVD, but it would be nice if I knew what caused this.

Have you a DGMPGDec folder within the GK program files folder? If you have, check the version of DGDecode.dll is the same as the one in your avisynth plugins folder.

Edit: Check the version of DGDecode is the same as DGIndex.

Yes.

junkboy wrote:

The one in Avisynth plugin folder is 1.5.8, the other one I can't see which version it is. When I try to copy one over to the other, it looks like it is copying, but when I check afterwards, the date on which the file has been modified last is the same as before the copy, so it seems that actually nothing has been copied over.

DGIndex is version 1.4.3

There's your problem then. It should be the same as DGDecode (1.5.8).

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

OK, thanks. Now I have to find out how I can change these files, as I tried to give admin permission, but still it doesn't copy the new files or cut/delete the old files :grrr:

I guess I have to reinstall GK completely...

It's really weird, I can't seem to paste any files onto C: anymore.

edit: pfft, In solved by using Unlocker.exe and give the "Move" command.

Any ideas why I can't copy/cut/paste/delete files in C:/Program Files? I use Win8 and my account has admin powers, but apparently not enough to do the above mentioned things.

I also can't change my account settings in Control Panel :crazy2:

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

OK, it didn't work, the Unlocker trick.

So I uninstalled GK, but when I want to reinstall it, it will also reinstall DGIndex 1.4.3

Is the best way to avoid this:
- uncheck DGIndex in GK setup
- install everything else
- install new DGIndex separately
- edit path in GK for DGIndex ?

Or will this become a clusterf*ck?

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

OK, I'm back to square one. I reinstalled GK, and updated DGIndex to 1.5.8, the DGDecode.dll in Avisynth plugins and the one in GordianKnot/DGMPGDec are the same.

Still, I'm getting this
Image

It gives two more error screens afterwards, btw.

edit:
OK, found a difference. With script 1 (the deafult script in GK) I don't get the error, with script 2 (the script I have been using for quite some time before I switched to win8) I do get it:

Are you manually loading DGDecode...?

LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\GordianKnot\DGMPGDec\DGDecode.dll")

EDIT: And after reading your edit, seems that's the problem :)

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

OK, I never had to do that before, though...

MPC doesn't preview anymore, it says "File not found". Any ideas?

Also, how do I let GK know what Spline36 is? It doesn't recognise it atm.

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

Yeah, DGDecode is one of the few plugins that I auto-load. Not sure why yours isn't auto-loading from the plugins folder though.

Not used GK for ages so I've no idea how to configure it so MPC plays the preview. You're much better off using AvsPmod to write/preview/play scripts though.

Spline resizing was added to v2.56 of avisynth, so maybe you've installed an older version?

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

Yeah, I do use AvsP, but for the short clips I plan to make (for work, a few clips of 2-3 minutes each) I just wanted a quick check.

Thx for the tip on Avisynth, turns out I still use 2.5 (and of course thanks for all other tips too! :cheer: )

All works like a charm now!

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

To preview using MPC from within AvsP, go to Options -> Program settings -> Enter the path to MPC in the 'external player' box. Then when you want to preview the script in MPC, just press F6 :)

OK, thanks! Next issue: what's the easiest way to hardcode subs? It is for YT clips.

Author:  ^Rogue^ [ Sun Sep 01, 2013 7:40 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

There's probably a filter for that but I've never looked for one.

WTF is YT?

Author:  junkboy [ Sun Sep 01, 2013 7:49 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

TextSub

YT = YouTube I presume.

Author:  Slayer [ Sun Sep 01, 2013 8:14 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

Yes, YT = Youtube. I use YT clips in prezis and then it only shows subs if they are hardcoded.

OK, thx, got it. This is only possible if you already made an srt, right? So you have to first rip subs, then mux them into the avi.

This means I have to encode all cli[ps twice, first to make sure the subs run on the correct timestamps (since I cut short pieces out of DVDs), then again to add the subs. Well, OK.

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

If you're using idx/sub files, use VobSub instead of TextSub (both part of VSFilter that I linked to before).

Maybe the easiest way of doing it would be to script for the whole movie and use trim to encode whatever sections from it you want.

Edit: Yeah, just tested it and that works :)

Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

I use srt all the time.

Trim is with framenumbers, right? A bit like how you script zone cropping?

Author:  junkboy [ Mon Sep 02, 2013 9:29 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

Yeah, say for example the section you wanted was from frame 2976 to frame 3452, you'd add trim(2976,3452) to the end of your script.

Author:  Slayer [ Tue Sep 03, 2013 12:04 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

Hehe, I tried to give it four trimjobs, but that is too much apparently. So one by one now.

edit: first one came out OK, but second one had sound from a totally different part of the DVD??? Image and subs were correct, but sound was totally off. It looks like the sound is just starting from frame 0. How can I fix that?

Script:
Code:
Import("C:\Program Files\GordianKnot\AviSynthPlugins\MCTemporalDenoise.v1.4.20.avs")
Import("C:\Program Files\GordianKnot\AviSynthPlugins\LSFmod.v1.9.avs")
Import("C:\Program Files\GordianKnot\AviSynthPlugins\GradFun2DBmod.v1.5.avs")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\DGMPGDec\DGDecode.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\AviSynthPlugins\VSFilter.dll")

mpeg2source("C:\Rip\VTS_01_1.d2v")
TextSub("C:\Rip\subs.srt")

#  CROPPING
crop(0,0,718,572)

#  RESIZING
Spline36Resize(704,528)

trim(71072,80299)

Author:  junkboy [ Tue Sep 03, 2013 10:33 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Ripping/encoding/releasing Q & A Prt. III

Yeah, you'll need to do each trim/section separately.

Not sure how you'd go about doing this in GK tbh, I just ran a simple script in avspmod to check that everything works...

Code:
video=mpeg2source("C:\VideoFile.d2v")
audio=NicAC3Source("C:\AudioFile.ac3")
AudioDub(video,audio)

VobSub("C:\Subtitles.sub")

Trim(2976,3452)

Maybe you need to make a lossless avi first, extract the audio from it, and then run those through GK?

OK, welll, then it is just as fast to make a new d2v for every sample. Did that now.

Going pretty well, might pick up ripping films sometime soonish.
