I have a question about mp4, since a lot of mp4 files I downloaded lately, have their audio out of sync. I checked some of the latest Southpark episodes and some Walking Dead episodes, and most of them have their audio out of sync. I tried with MPC and VLC (VLC doesn't even play the mp4 files correctly, I get an all grey screen), but only Quicktime Player seems to work. WTF? I used to be able to see everything on MPC. Do I need some codec for mp4 or something? Or am I doomed to use Quicktime from now on? |

I use GOM Player (where I'm turning off the build in codecs) + CCCP, and everything is just fine. Slayer wrote: (VLC doesn't even play the mp4 files correctly, I get an all grey screen) What, are you serious? Damn! That used to be the player, that will read even a newspaper... |

Check your ffdshow settings(and maybe update), MP4 disabled in ffdshow, because recent versions use LAV Video decoder by default. |

Win7DSFilterTweaker pretty nice tool for that also already you can see video decoder configuration under ffdshow. Quote: Win7DSFilterTweaker tool allows you to configure your preferred DirectShow filters with just a few mouse clicks. It is quick, easy, and changes can always be undone. Windows 7 uses its own DirectShow filters for decoding several audio and video formats. Using third party filters instead of the native filters is not possible without making changes to the Windows Registry. If you for example prefer to use ffdshow or CoreAVC for decoding H.264 video then you can do so by using this tool. This tool is particularly useful for the Microsoft players, such as Windows Media Player and Media Center. Certain advanced third party players, such as Media Player Classic, are already capable of using third party filters without using this tool. |
