I found a pretty good deinterlacer.
Later this week I'm gonna try it on Something is Out There (1988)

Right now I'm doing some of my old homevideos. The problem is I dont have a good codec to save my raw footage.
The one that I have now is pretty crappy since it wont work with gknot (gknots exits when opening avi)
if anyone can point out a good one I'm happy.

Well I get the same message in gknot

File is not a valid d2v project, avi or avs file!

I had this problem before when I wanted to rip my VHS tape of Something is Out There.
Eventually I got it some way some how.

1 minute of footage
- Uncompressed gets 1800MB at 768x576
- FFDSHOW gets 73MB and saves the avi at 14fps, which is not good. Seems like it's compressing too much.
- My capture codec does it around 500MB

Interesting stuff.

I put FVFW in the ffdshow options, now gknot loads it

But how much quality will I have lost this way? if it is neglectible then thanks a lot :) I found my working system.

In a few months I wont care since I will have my new digital camcorder.

But for now it's nice to know I can put crazy ass filters on my VHS tapes.

Well it all didn't work.

I eventually made an uncompressed file (92GB) and gknot only loads about 5400 frames from it (it has around 249000 frames)

So basicly I'm back where I started :(

gknot piece of crap
