HI! I'm thinking about encoding an Anime just to see how it comes. Is there any special LUX preset or should I just go as a normal video file? Any thoughts on this?
thx in advance

I think there's the slightly modified (thanks to elguaxo) TGANIME-00 preset you should use.
Depending on the compression of your source it should be modified though

Hellbound undersized again even with different matrix and 16% DRF 4 and -9 b-vops.... fuck and I dont like how it looks anymore.
I'll re-filter it a bit again and in meantime put Alone in the Dark x264

DUUH!!!
heini NON-SAP was less compressible than v3hr! Which means that should fill the hole between 85 and 90 !!

I think his last name is Pacino...
EDIT: Something I would like to know. Is it possible to comptest the same source with 2 different scripts simultaneously?

Carlito's Way :bunny:
It Should be possible to run multiple encodes(or comptests) simultaneously but how exactly i dont know cause i've never used for more then one at a time. But i'm pretty sure Lux, gx, or Vae has done that before. Isn't it just as simple as using another folder for the comptest and let it run? I would have a go aswell if i wasn;t busy with something else

Nice thread u have here, i will try avs2qxvid and Lux presets in my next rip and report back in here.
My first question, how can i define zones with a lower quantizer for the credits, for example...?
A special thx to dvdfernandes for bringing me to this shit place.

I got a heavy undersized in my first try, 200mb under the defined size.
This was the preset i choosed
And i have 2 files carrie_LUX-55_ts_996866.avi (1.000.037 Kb) carrie_LUX-55_ts_996866.dml.avi (1.265.074 Kb) So i thought that i should only pick the video size and afterwards mux the audio, but it has muxed the audio and the final size is the one i choosed in the preset. Do i have to choose the final size in the preset like this?
Thx

You should rather encode by bitrate. I personally calculate the file bitrate in gknot and then enter lets say
it's more precise that way. The original muxed the audio by default if its in the same folder as the .avs or otherwise it muxes something else
Doesn't happen to me though, maybe cause I always name my .avs file something like filter.avs
Oh and if it undersized you should defo try a bigger preset, though I can't remember what the lower ones were like, probably all crap

Ok, i will try another one by bitrate.
Just one more question, how i define the size encoding by bitrate?
Does it chooses the best size for the given comptest and bitrate?

No no you choose the bitrate before the comptest. You do the comptest and encoding with set bitrate.
As I said I calculate it with Gknot.

But uses that bitrate for each second? I'm seeing some pretty shit things in rips I've done when using kpbs.. Seems it doesn't have enough bits for sections that would benefit from it. Correct, name the avs the same as the d2v file and it will mux. But I prefer muxxing it myself.

To be honest I've no idea. Personally I don't even use avs2qxvid.bat anymore but just enter my settings in Megui in one of the xvid presets. Same shit but now I have a nice little que

I think it does, and it pretty much sucks.
I need something for Resident Evil 1.
1/3 is too small (crap drf and visual) and it doesn't fill a 1/2 with lux-90 (lux-99 is crap drf.)
Only way to get close to 1/2 is with set kpbs, but that gives a crap result (visual) drf is good. Resident Evil 2, worked fine.

Why not just modify the preset with lower b-frames?
For example (can't remember the matrix in LUX-90), if the undersize matrix is let's say heini_lr6of9, perhaps try V3 and b-frame settings of 1/1/0 or maybe 2/1/0.
Lot's of possibilities I know I'm trying similiar things with Gigli
But now that I think about it encoding via set kbps shouldn't crap on quality? I mean it wouldn't be default set in Megui for all x264/xvid presets then would it?

encoding by size or kbps is the same, but many times Xvid is not smart enough to know where to spend bits. Low contrast areas like walls/backgrounds are always tricky and sometimes some blocks are unavoidable. In many cases even lowering or disabling B-Vops is not enough.

Another solution could be the Kopernikus's HVS mods: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=114811
Don't ask me how to use them!
