now that I think about it, it seems that I don't like it FS cause of the filtering, becomes more obvious. Dunno if I should rip it again, don't think that without -3 sensitivity it would be much of a difference....

Bleh I'll make a sample :teeth:

I guess it's back to v3hr instead of heini with -3, does make more sense after all :)

Bloodrayne goes back to encoding, my filtering was poop, I lowered it.

Hmmm need to update the package :pork: Any suggestions to add/change something?

Put the latest xvidcore.dll in the /bin folder: http://maxupload.com/6B8124FB

In the .bat I changed this:
Code:
set PP0=-threads !NUMTHRD! -progress 100 -max_key_interval !KEYINT!

to this:
Code:
set PP0=-threads !NUMTHRD! -progress 100 -overhead 0 -max_key_interval !KEYINT!

I did this a long time ago, and I don't remember why? :fishy:
Here it is: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p ... post790096
I use MeGUI just for cropping and as a bitrate calculator. -overhead 0 works better if you use MeGUI as bitrate calculator.

Oy Mariachi, how about ripping that awesome monster movie with these presets ha?

I think you don't need filtering if I remember correctly.

I want an AFR of it dammnit! :grrr:

I have an AFR but I'm too scared to post it. You outrip me. And I think after ripping it has some block in the scenes with smoke and motion

Make a test encode with these presets :spank: :spank: :spank: :D

+ it should lower the amount of blocks in those scenes ;)

Lux, time to upgrade: http://maxupload.com/252FD20A

Changelog:
Merged changes made in the new avs2qxvid_25h to your bat. It now detects multiple cores and sets the number of threads in the xvid encoding accordingly.
xvid_presets_25f.csv has now only the comptest and LUX presets.
Changed some parts of the bat. Now, after the comptest it recommends the right LUX preset LEVEL following your comptest-lux table.

Now I'm encoding V using the new LUX-85.

WHOAH awesome

So LUX-CT will select the preset automagically ha? :ele:

Could you tell me the line in the .bat so I can update it later if needed :)

Oh I missed this. Did you cancel the old one? If not then did it look crapsy?

Looked fine, but undersized.

Aaah so I guess -3 works well when it has the compression for it. I guess it makes too much p3 frames when it doesn't. :beh:

Author:  Lux Delux [ Sun Jun 17, 2007 8:31 pm ]
Post subject:

Oh and, I think you'll get undersized with V3HR too, cause I think the compression level is the same as with heini with -3 ;) :beh:

Hm guess there will have to be some changes if it undersizes with 85.

How it went?

Oh and an idea just hit me about the lower presets. Since V8 is pretty tricky to get with the right comptest to look good, perhaps a safer alternative would be
Jawor's 1cd but with 1/1/1 and less curve compression.

:beh:

Author:  elguaxo [ Mon Jun 18, 2007 1:43 pm ]
Post subject:

The Jawor's 1CD idea sounds good.

New LUX-85 version: undersized almost by the same factor. With the previous preset the compressibility after the first pass was 150%, now it is 148%. :fishy:

Now comes LUX-90.

Author:  Lux Delux [ Mon Jun 18, 2007 1:49 pm ]
Post subject:

Hmmm so with comptest 102% you undersized with preset 85, interesting :fishy:

How much did it undersize?

I guess it could be just this source? I currently have one running with V3LR, meaning preset 60, end of first pass bitrate is ~1800 of available ~2300.

But I noticed the bitrate in the first pass should be like 500-700 lower than the desired to reach the desired filesize with a good result :beh: :beh: :beh:

Author:  elguaxo [ Mon Jun 18, 2007 1:57 pm ]
Post subject:

Comptest was 108

Interesting!

The undersize on my first test was ~13MB. I haven't finished the second pass of the second LUX-85 test, but since the compressibility was about the same. But I'm going to let it finish now.

Author:  Lux Delux [ Mon Jun 18, 2007 2:06 pm ]
Post subject:

Hmmm yes perhaps it will be the same then, and I dunno about V3, it shouldn't be too much less compressible than V3HR but more compressible than 6of9.

Or maybe we can replace V3 with 6of9 but with 2/1.62/0 and perhaps slight curve compression, don't know how much it raises compressibility.

Oh and Jawor's 1cd with 1/1/1 was slightly less compressible than v8. Need to compare it to V3LR so I know if it's in the middle! :beh:

Damn, gotta go to work :stupid:

All right, currently making a size compariosn between

V3 with 1/1/1

and

6of9 with 2/1.62/0

You probably saw this already: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p ... ost1016284

I like the idea of all the LUX presets! The best thing is having many presets, the bad thing is that the comptest is doing just 3%. Let's see how to make bigger comptests. :bearsy:

BTW, the 2nd pass of V is not finished yet, I think it will undersize by less MBs than with the old LUX-85. And ~4MB undesize is almost no undersize. :mex:

Author:  Lux Delux [ Tue Jun 19, 2007 2:57 am ]
Post subject:

:bearsy:

Oooh I haven't seen that! Sounds neato, could prove to be even more precise, which means more testing, more fun ^^

So V3HR stays it seems as the next choice, but let's wait and see the quality of the result too :mex:

BTW an important revelation I'd say, and it seems I should completely ditch V3?

Cause, 901 frames encoded:

V3, 1/1/1 - 5,86mb

6of9, 2/1.62/0 - 5,50mb

Gonna spin 6of9 with 1/1/1 and also gonna see what heini_lr6of9 gives with 2/1.62/0

Author:  Lux Delux [ Tue Jun 19, 2007 3:12 am ]
Post subject:

No point in V3 it seems

V3, 1/1/1 - 5,86mb

6of9, 1/1/1 - 5,88mb

shit, lemme test this against the v3hr preset too with 2/1.62/0

Author:  Lux Delux [ Tue Jun 19, 2007 3:33 am ]
Post subject:

Uhmmm can it be the source? Cause this is pretty insane.

2/1.62/0 6of9 is more compressible than v3 AND v3hr :fishy: :fishy: :fishy:

Author:  elguaxo [ Tue Jun 19, 2007 3:39 am ]
Post subject:

I would say the source.
