Short answer: do what I say! :spank:

Long answer: I guess you will do this particular encode at 1500kbps. That bitrate is the average bitrate. Some scenes will need much much more, others will need less bitrate. The small VOB you tried to encode is perhaps a scene that needs more bitrate, so encoding it at 1500kbps will give you bad results.

The only way to have a preview of the final encode is to distribute those 1500kbps across many little scenes of the movie -> SelectRangeEvery(233, 14)

Your final encode won't look exactly as your test, but this is the best sneak peak you can get. Comptests are not exact, this 'sneak peak' won't be exact either.

Sorry... Been reading a lot about encoding and things tend to mix up :rain: :ooaa:

Thanks for the long answer :cheer:

Undersizing by 10 megs with DRF4 14% ? That sucks :beh:

Elguaxo have you perhaps tried disabling Overflow Control Strength=0 ? In a similar case perhaps?

I'll run a 2nd pass without it anyways, also remove b-vop -2... who knows. Fishy dicks! :swing:

I still don't know exactly how Overflow Control Strength=0 affects in those cases. But b-vop sens = -2 is too little, try at least b-vop sens = -3

PS.

I'm starting to think heini6of9 might be too much for 70-76 range.... Let's see after this encode of mine finishes.

But maybe it would be better something like this:

Code:
"LUX-55","1","4","1",".",".","1","162","0","Didees-SixOfNine-HVS.cqm","3",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".","Y","."
"LUX-55","2","6","4",".",".","1","162","0","Didees-SixOfNine-HVS.cqm",".","3","4","3","5","3","5","10","3",".","-2","Y","Y",".","."

but first for this one to finish :!

Crap I'll need to do both 1st and 2nd pass for Hellraiser cause I was doing a test with a trimmed part and it fucked up the old .pass file :beh:

I'll concentrate on Children of Dune to get rid of those shits from my ass :paca:

Just read about this and tried it just now- getting this poop straight away:

"Error checking Source - avsutil.exe cannot play the avs script
Press any key to continue....."

Seems someone had the same a while back. I saw that you reposted the file at dump.ru Lux, doesn't seem to be there anymore.

So I don't have to search back through this thread, when was the download pack last updated? Would like to have the latest version installed. :)

The latest is in the first thread, but I didn't update anything for some time now.

My own folder is pretty different now but dunno... wouldn't say it's release ready :pork:

heini 1/1/0 failed as a filler between V3HR and V3 so that's still a mystery... :spank:

And have started encoding with x264 too so :cum: it's encoding madness ovah here ass usual :cum:

It seems lowering the b-frame ratio does the trick really good for undersizes!

Dune part 3 was always about 1.42gb so here's the final shit that cracked it:

Code:
"LUX-90","1","4","1",".",".","1","100","100","V3.cqm","3",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".","Y","."
"LUX-90","2","4","1",".",".","1","100","100","V3.cqm",".","2","3","2","4","2","4",".",".","0","-8","Y",".",".","."

B-frames are kept at 3 as it would undersize (with exception of 1% DRF4) but with more P-frames replacing them
it gained a bit of quality too and didn't undersize! I also removed VHQ for b-frames in this case.

Gotta try it on Hellbound soon! :pork:

Strange things happening

With Hellbound it's always the same, every fuckin byte in size, even when going from 0 to -9 b-frames :non: :spank:

it's like bug or something :aaa:

What settings are you using exactly?

Author:  Lux Delux [ Thu Oct 18, 2007 8:06 pm ]
Post subject:

Last ones I used were

Quote:
"LUX-85","1","4","1",".",".","1","100","100","v3hr-sap.xcm","3",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".",".","Y","."
"LUX-85","2","4","3",".",".","1","100","100","v3hr-sap.xcm",".","2","3","2","4","2","4",".",".","0","-9","Y",".",".","."

I think, or -7. But point is the b-vops grow but the size stays the same. What a dump :spank:

:pork: Shit now I can't remember if I removed the 0 offset for 2nd pass in the last encode... Mrmmm :pork:

Author:  elguaxo [ Thu Oct 18, 2007 8:17 pm ]
Post subject:

Well... if I use B-Vob Sensitivity then I use it in the 1st and 2nd pass! So far I know the most important thing of the first pass is to decide the frame type. Perhaps it is not necessary, but for me it makes sense to adjust the Sensitivity in the 1st and 2nd pass.

Try it on both passes!

Ok now that Im sober ....

Putting the -9 just in 2nd pass for example worked fine for Children of Dune part 3, so this doesn't make sense :pork:

I mean... I thought -3 already should have a relatively high impact on size.... Shiyaaat :stupid:

Ok, then using it just in the 2nd pass might be enough. But -3 is too little. I use between -10 and -20 if necessary.

Wow really? Hmmm guess I'll up it to -10, hopefully that hits the right size finally! :aaa:

LANET_TERROR_UNRATED_UNTOUCHED_DVD9\704x30_LUX-80_ts_2705408.avi"

Which is for a 2/3 dvd size.
I want to try a 1/2 dvd size as well. afaik I should be able to just reuse the first pass.

How?

Code:
start "LUX-80 - Pass 2/2" /b /wait /belownormal "C:\Shares\TempFolder\avs2qxvid.
bat\bin\xvid_encraw_20070203.exe" -zones 0,w,1.0,KO -threads 4 -progress 100 -ma

x30.pass" -stats "I:\pt\PLANET_TERROR_UNRATED_UNTOUCHED_DVD9\tmp\704x30.stats" -
type 2 -i "I:\pt\PLANET_TERROR_UNRATED_UNTOUCHED_DVD9\704x30.avs" -avi "I:\pt\PL
ANET_TERROR_UNRATED_UNTOUCHED_DVD9\704x30_LUX-80_ts_1943552.avi"

doesn't seem to be working.

I get:
