Post Server pooped on me again
Since yesterday my computer wont get into windows

In normal mode I can see the windows loading screen and it freezes
In safe mode or dos prompt mode it loads until mup.sys
It does a tiny bit of loading afterwards, keyboards get checked (lights flickering) but then nada.
I can't reinstall windows since it freezes too.

I swapped my videocard, no difference
I swapped my network card, no difference
I swapped my memory, no difference
I swapped my harddrive (3 of them) no difference

Only thing I can think of is a new mobo, but that would suck.

The recovery console is out of my reach since I can't get there when installing windows (Freezes before I get there)

Any tips and tricks. I will do something nice for you :bloww:

Lame answer....

Have you swapped the ribbons?

I had a problem kinda similar to yours a while ago & the ide ribbon fell apart when I unplugged it from the drive. Swapping for a spare cured it.

Well, I found out more.

If I re-install it crashes (SP2). When I dont connect a harddrive at all and re-install, it crashes at the same point.
At the moment I'm trying to install Windows XP SP1
At least that one doesn't crash when I install (so far!)

And I like ribbons :bang:

Something similar was happening to me a year or two ago... I couldn't get through the installation process, no chance. I bet you'd like to know how I solved the problem? ^^

:bloww:

:D

Well, I gave up, I had to go to a party.
I just came back and the first thing I did was checking prices for a computer
Damn, that means buying 2 computers this year.

Normally I build my own computer, but I'm also tired of that :D
So my server will be a brand new computer and hopefully I will have it tomorrow, with fucking Vista

Anyone got experience with Vista? Should I go for 2GB of mem (comp has 1gb)
It will be on 24/7.
that's what probably killed my old computer. It was pretty much on every day for the last 5 years.

I'd choose 2GB, memory is cheap atm. Plus you can't have enough of it.
