Batsie ripsie bitsie tipsie
Wanted to know some opinions about the following batsie ripsie. And especially the AR difference.
Comparison between willy_br and Vae:
willy_br is a 3cd sized version, which is about the same as mine which is 1/2 dvd sized.
If you look close you can see some macroblocking on mine. Especially the last one.
This is cause of the source, this rip is from the r2 pal. More on this later.
avinaptic output.

As you can see the average drf is pretty low and shouldn't cause blocking like this (if I'm correct). So I took a closer look at the dvd.
The blocks are also present at the dvd AND this is something I've been seeing more and more.
Looks like a lot of PAL dvd's have blocking where the NTSC version doesn't, anyone else noticed this?
/me is pretty pissed really and might switch completely to ntsc dvd's cause of this crapfest.
Also had this with the Highlander Endgame R2 pal version. And several other discs.
I've also ordered the NTSC disc which should arrive sometime next week, I'll rip that one for the final afr.
Some bonus pics:

I was just about to comment. I already read/saw a bit yesterday but the rum kicked in and my eyes started to fuck with me
Anyway looking at the screens i would say the second ones look a bit better at first sight. I didn't zoom in, just compared them eye to eye.
And i recall reading somewhere something about PAL being a bitch and people praising NTSC discs. For now i'm not making the switch yet, maybe later or maybe not at all

Vae, your rip looks like crap! I hate you Vae!!!
I've seen this PAL vs NTSC thing before. But the blocks don't look so bad in your rip. Have you tried a little MVDegrain2 love?
Something like this?
Code: source = last deblocked = deblock_qed( quant1=20,quant2=24, aOff1=2,bOff1=4,aOff2=4,bOff2=8 )
backward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) backward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) MVDegrain2(source,backward_vec1,forward_vec1,backward_vec2,forward_vec2,thSAD=200, idx=2)

I didn't comment, I already have the movie
poop, plap
anyway, I got some blocks in Way of the Dragon. Not too sure if those are the blocks you are talking about though.

Yup, unfortunately most PAL dvd's suck. Bleh, most DVD's suck in general! Motherfuckers
Anywayz try what elguaxo wrote, though if the NTSC disc doesn't have the blocky farts, I'd go with that one.
And now I go take a dump cause it seems I fucked up Hellbound again

Love you too honeybun
No, haven't tried mvdegrain2 yet.
So it would be something like:
Code: LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\DGMPGDec\DGDecode.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\fftw3dfilter\fft3dfilter.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\degrainmedian081\degrainmedian.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\masktools\masktools.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\masktools\mt_masktools.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\removegrain\RemoveGrainS.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\repair\RepairSSE2.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\mvtools-v1.6.2\mvtools.dll") LoadPlugin("D:\progs\filters\dctfilter_25_dll_20030221\DctFilter.dll") Import("D:\progs\plugins\SeeSaw.avs") Import("D:\progs\plugins\dehalo.avs") Import("D:\progs\plugins\Deblock_QED.avs")
mpeg2source("Z:\_batman\VTS_01_1.d2v")
crop(2,76,716,424)
spline36resize(720,304)
source = last deblocked = deblock_qed( quant1=20,quant2=24, aOff1=2,bOff1=4,aOff2=4,bOff2=8 )
backward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) backward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) MVDegrain2(source,backward_vec1,forward_vec1,backward_vec2,forward_vec2,thSAD=200, idx=2)
a= last b=a.degrainmedian(mode=5).FFT3DFilter(sigma=2.5,bt=4,plane=3) SeeSaw(a,b, NRlimit=3, NRlimit2=4, Sstr=1.5, Slimit=1, Spower=2, soothes=60, soothet=60, Sdamplo=6, Szp=16)
?
Or should I add it after the seesaw part?

Dang, where'd ya find that one? I haven't used it with fft2d for ages
When starting I first go for this one:
Code: a= last
b=a.degrainmedian(mode=5)
SeeSaw(a,b, NRlimit=3, NRlimit2=4, Sstr=1.5, Slimit=1, Spower=2, soothet=70, Sdamplo=6, Szp=16)
I think

Interesting possibilities. After MVDegrain2 I think degrainmedian is useless. And since you have 4 cores you could change fft into this: FFT3DFilter(sigma=2.5,bt=4,plane=3, ncpu=4).
So you could try this:
Code: mpeg2source("Z:\_batman\VTS_01_1.d2v")
crop(2,76,716,424)
spline36resize(720,304)
source = last deblocked = deblock_qed( quant1=20,quant2=24, aOff1=2,bOff1=4,aOff2=4,bOff2=8 )
backward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) backward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) MVDegrain2(source,backward_vec1,forward_vec1,backward_vec2,forward_vec2,thSAD=200, idx=2)
a= last b=a.FFT3DFilter(sigma=2.5,bt=4,plane=3, ncpu=4) SeeSaw(a,b, NRlimit=3, NRlimit2=4, Sstr=1.5, Slimit=1, Spower=2, soothes=60, soothet=60, Sdamplo=6, Szp=16) or this: Code: mpeg2source("Z:\_batman\VTS_01_1.d2v")
crop(2,76,716,424)
spline36resize(720,304)
source = last deblocked = deblock_qed( quant1=20,quant2=24, aOff1=2,bOff1=4,aOff2=4,bOff2=8 )
backward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) backward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=true, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec1 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=1, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1) forward_vec2 = MVAnalyse(deblocked,isb=false, truemotion=true, chroma=true, delta=2, pel=2, blksize=8, overlap=4, sharp=1, idx=1)
a= last b=a.MVDegrain2(source,backward_vec1,forward_vec1,backward_vec2,forward_vec2,thSAD=200, idx=2).FFT3DFilter(sigma=2.5,bt=4,plane=3, ncpu=4) SeeSaw(a,b, NRlimit=3, NRlimit2=4, Sstr=1.5, Slimit=1, Spower=2, soothes=60, soothet=60, Sdamplo=6, Szp=16)

Interesting, might give it a go after this one.
Currently 1.96 fps
But indeed 2 degrains is a bit too much.

ncpu doesn't seem to work with my fft3dfilter, is there a newer version?
edit: ugh nevermind downloaded a newer version

Mostly looks okey, but it lost too much information for my taste.
Like in some scenes whole hands etc.
Should have the ntsc really fast. and make an afr out of it.
