Post Questions questions
Well, a few days ago I spend around 70 bucks on shit

I bought a HDMI-DVI cable and a 7.1 soundcard.

The 7.1 kept on spitting stereo crap over my amplifier. No matter what I changed in the hardware. So that one is going back to the shop and I'll probably buy a more expensive real soundcard
(this one was around 30 bucks, but had optical SPDIF out)
Anyone here have a nice soundcard with all the goodies on it?

Second problem was the hdmi-dvi cable
I plugged it in and started the computer.... nothing happened. I unplugged and the computer continued.
After I was in Windows I plugged in the cable and switched screen.
No matter what I did I Couldn't get the pixels as sharp as the menu of my projector.
The beamer can do 1280x720
It says it can do higher but it might look awful, so I kept it at 1280x720

The screen went from light to dark(er) after I moved or closed a window.
That aside. I couldn't get the resolution I wanted. I kept ending up at 1190x688 or something awful. Shitty NVIDIA software.

D-Sub however worked when I plugged it in before booting, so I'm gonna trade in the HDMI-DVI cable for a good ol' d-sub cable

Only problem with that is that it doesn't recognize my projector as High Definition but as a monitor. Not that it matters much.

I'm using an onboard Nvidia 7050 chip. Could it be I need a powerful big ass graphics card for more compatibility and better resolutions?

I dont know shit of new hardware
In the late 80's early 90's I was the hardware king :D

You should probably get a card with official HD output support via dvi with an integrated decoder.

HD 2600 on the cheaper side or 3850 for a bit newer from Ati. Though the GPU decoding is limited to the players that support it :pork:

Could you possibly be experiencing some of the issues reported here?
http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/p ... _cost.html

I posted the highlights in the news over at DD & spuds dissed it as mostly crap but I think it would be strange for someone to spend a lot of time & effort compiling a report like this if its not true. :bla:
