I'm gonna buy a new monitor in an hour or so, I'm switching from an old 17" TFT to a new 20 or 22" widescreen, will it run fine if I plug it in, or is it best to reinstall my videocard (I've never switched a monitor alone )

AFAIK, it should eb ok just to plus it in. After that you can always adjust your settings

for now I'm going for the first, coz it supports low rez, but the second has a higher contrast rate & slightly higher refreshrate, but I think Iiyama is better quality than Samsung & 1000:1 5ms is good enough for gaming (I think)

Also, Samsung is a pretty popular monitor brand.
It's usually in the top 5 with at least 2 or 3 monitors.

All the cheapy monitors with TN panels are the same piece of crapperoony.
