I found that the orange habanero can't dry. It just rots... Hope the others are not the same.

Really, I had doubts that way...I was thinking of maybe putting them in the oven for some short time, then drying them...I donno, for now, nothing rotted, but they are hanging on terrace for some 2 weeks now

Something's definitely wrong with your habaneros, man First the medicinal taste, now rotting.... Concerning the drying process, I actually talked to a guy who does it with regular feferoni peppers, it's plain simple - you need to hand them on a string and leave them in the sun.

Yeah, they are on a string. But not in the sun. I put them right next to the ones my mother hang. Still, I have 20+ on the plant. I'll try and hang them on direct sun light. Maybe I pick them too early - don't know. Can't wait for them trinidat scorpions, though, 30+ on the plant.

Yesterday I harvest some more of my babies.

I'll hang them to dry and when they are crispy, I'll grind them.

Also dried, and mixed with the trinidat ones. I think it will be awesome!

Habanero Orange

I'm planing to make hot sauce tomorrow with these. Saw a recipe with carrots, lime juice, brown sugar, a apple vinegar, little shallot, salt, pepper. But instead of lime juice and brown sugar, I'll use pineapple and honey. And also I might put a little bit of garlic.

Habanero Yellow

I'll pickle these in wine vinegar, water and salt.

Habanero Caribbean Red Hot

Still don't know what I'm going to do with these. But probably tonight I'll gather up some friends and do something with them. Probably filled with melted cheese, marinated mushrooms and ham, rapped in bacon and deep fried.

Habanero White

I'll pickle those as well (wine vinegar, water, salt).

Habanero Jamaican Hot

Probably same thing as the caribbean red hot.

Plus these

Again pickled (wine vinegar, water, salt).

Most awesome! I had a shitty harvest this year. Only 4 peppers (but they we're big ones ) and about 10 tomatoes. Chives are still going strong and even no strawberries at all

So I made my sauce. Turned out awesome.


At this point I tried it, and it was juts hot... nothing else. No pineapple, no nothing. So I run to the store to buy another pineapple, and an orange, because the sauce wasn't saucy enough.


This was after the first blend, with some carrots, honey, salt, pepper, and apple vinegar put in it (plus the second pineapple and the orange).


Here is finished, and blended again, to become more creamy.




And I must say, the taste is unbelievable! I didn't expect to be so good. At first you notice the salty-sour taste (from the salt and vinegar), which turns into sweet-fruity taste (from the pineapple), and than the scorching taste from the orange habs hits you like a train for about five minutes.

The weird thing is that I don't have problems at the back end. And I ate a lot from the sauce I made. Maybe I'm broken, don't know. But I want to shit fire! I guess I have to abuse with this sauce.

I made another sauce.

Red habaneros and raspberries + honey, salt and pepper. I took a few pics, but I'm too lazy to download them from my camera.

But I should've put more honey in it. Now is too sour. But, what are you going to do... Better luck next year.

In my opinion that sauce goes with everything. Even on top of slice of bread. Earlier today I made myself a grilled sandwich with melted cheese an put that sauce on top of it. It was just perfect.

I had to pick up my crops too early since it became too cold for them outside Most of them are still green, but one chocolate habanero reached it's full chocolatey maturity... I ate it last night with some bread and cheese and it was wonderful. Hot as a holy fuck though, I barely managed to eat it

No I need to decide what to do with the green ones, I have some chocolate habaneros and some Jamaican bell peppers (for those I'm not even sure if they're supposed to remain green )
