Going nice... :cheer:

You are reading it? I got mine some 13 years ago, tried reading it but it just didn't stick on me. It was...I donno...boring? So I let it on the side, for when I get the inspiration :)
...still waiting for it :D

its only the first 2 chapters or so that are somewhat boring & confusing, with the tons of names you get thrown at you, but after that its very good

pfff... its sort of a Genesis, about how the world came to be, etc... I suppose you CAN skip it, but key players are introduced there so...

Yea, I kinda got a hint of the old Bible writing style in it. I donno, since you mentioned it here I'm contemplating about reading it again.
Hey, "winter is coming", maybe I'll read it after this trekkies zombie novel, if I don't get stuck on Bujold's Vorkosingan saga...again :D It's the right stuff for winter days.

Yeah, I might give it another go as well. Maybe this time it'll be easier, it's quite possible that I grew up and got more serious, focused and mature in the last 15 years... Although I doubt it :teeth:

Lately I've been reading some Croatian authors, some crime novels - it's a nice twist when you can actually picture the streets and places where the plot happens :bang:

Yup. Gave me the extra kick while I read "Kriza". Not only the streets but with somewhat celebrities mentioned in the novel...if one could say that Jacques Houdek is a celeb http://www.net.hr/2009/07/14/0226007.17.jpg a whale...yes, but celeb...man, I really don't wonna live on this planet anymore...

So far, so good. The beginning is really exiting, and I hope the end would be the same. :cheer:

wtf!! are you insane dude, there's no one who writes as detailed as Tolkien, to the point it gets boring sometimes, thats why most folks give up... if he writes not detailed enough for ya, I suggest you read the bible instead :cracked: :cracked:

I have to go with dirty old Scabby here. Dising Tolkien on account of low-detail writing just makes no sense to me :hmmm: I can remember the first time I read it, I could literally smell the spring morning air of the hobbit hole. The only thing that comes to mind is that you read some horrible translation instead of the original version?

well i guess that's the problem it's in bulgarian maybe the the original it's like that but in this i don't see it only stupid names of destination witch i don't care about and names and songs and shit it's like he only write it to show his stupid songs that they are singing very often :non:

Wait? What? Are you still talking about Lord of the rings? Because, my book is ~1200 pages (actually 3 books). And, yeah, the songs and poetry in the firs book are definitely more than 4-5. In the other two there are much less songs (even none), but still... I'm not sure we're talking about the same book. :beh:
