think my dvdrom finally died on my

it still burns, but fails to load the movie i burned
it did work on my dvdrecorder though plays fine
so guess it can write but not read discs anymore

time to replace it with an older dvdrom burner i once removed from a previous busted comp...hope it fits, but those things must be pretty much standard on sizes

And hope you have the right connectors. Most of the old ones are PATA while the newer ones are SATA.

They will never can nuclear power even if two or three plants went into full meltdown. Japan is resource poor and nuclear is their best option for energy in an economy on their level.
Maybe in 50 years or so you'll see them and the rest of the world start using nuclear fusion which doesn't leave radioactive waste.

Jesus Christ, what a fucking long road in filling out an online permit application form, for the felling of a tree in my backyard.
took me at least half an hour + some site hickups
damn.... it is that it is a big fucking tree otherwise i would do it illigally
but the fucker needs to go...already 15-20 meters high and 150 cm in diameter, (130cm up measured from the lawn) and read that the sucker can reach up to 40 meters and can live up to 200 years in age ...grow rate: 1 to 1.5 meters per year
this is gonne cost me bleh , but afraid the sucker might fall down oneday.
is a tree that is known for being able to take wind, but to risky in backyard, might smash on the appertment complex oneday.

hope i provided the proper documentation.

why? because i thought the sucker would be like maximum 6 meters high in the end...
at least that what i was told at the time...perfect hight i thought.
but it kept growing and growing every year, more then a 1 meter per year.
every year i thought: well this must be the max hight now, it must really like the spot i planted it at way to go tree!
but the next year it again grew
... something was obviously wrong, so i looked it up.
Now is the time to bring it down, the longer i wait, the harder and more expensive it gets taking it down.

... so waiting for the permit now and yesterday a "treeguy" ( )
came to look at it and we discussed the costs etc , but not made the deal yet, i will call him again once permit is in.
but it's gonna take 2 men like 2.5 - 3 hours to take it down.
the main tree trunk will be cut into 35cm pieces and the branches into ~ 2 meter pieces.
To reduce costs i decided to transport the cut down tree to disposal place myself.
in the end it will cost me a little over ?300 (3 hours,including permit) instead of almost double.



but i like trees
looks somewhat better with all those concrete build houses and fenced gardens in the neighbourhood, it needs some trees

I'd say 300? is an ok price cause it is hard work, you need special tools and it's quite dangerous...
But why dont you keep the wood? Perfect to burn in a fireplace and your carbon footprint on mother gaia is diminished!

Had to wait almost 7 hours to the energy come back after a storm

that happened to me over the weekend but it was awesome. We watched the storm from the balcony. Anyway...it was cool, then, now, heavily raining again...man, it's getting to be boring!

To me was like hell, it wasn't rainning anymore, it was at night and nobody was at home, not to mention i couldn't sleep.

I have a story for you. A friend of mine (actually Brickbat's brother) end up with the same situation. Rotten rice in a cooking pot, so the obvious thing to do was to add daily doses of water to smother the stench. That thing kept going for several months. So there's an idea for you and your roommates.

Later, you can mix it with water in a 1:20 ratio and use it as a fertilizer or you can use it pure as a fuel....after you kill it.

Had a better idea, i put it inside their room and closed the door, they will be surprised when come back from the weekend.
My other roomate also glued their shoes to the roof

I needed to reinstal my Windows, so I burned a copy. And when I formated the disk drive, the fucking thing told me, that the DVD is broken, and couldn't read from it. The FUCK! And now I have to wait 'till tommorow to get working DVD. Gonna try again, though... FFFFFFFUUUUU-
