I dont know what I want, but I think I do
Well, after a short talk with the wife about our High Definition player it definitely is gonna be a computer.
She loved the trashcan, but we want to play games on the beamer as well at some point. Some porn game or something.
Anyway. Last computer I build was a barebone for the wife, so that doesn't really count.... so before that it was like 4 years ago.
I'm all lost in all the new technology.
The crappy computer that I bought a few months back has a crappy intel that runs 53 degrees celcius, both motherboard and cpu. I dont want that.
It was also the first intel in 10 years or so. Fuck Intel, fuck them in the ass... real hard.
ok, that's just a matter of opinion and I want to AMD.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (AM2, 2x2.8GHz, 2MB, 400MHz Bus, 89W, Boxed)
around 130 euros
AMD Athlon X2 6000+ (AM2, 3GHz, HT 1000MHz, 2MB, Retail)
around 140 euros
AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 (AM2, 2x2.8GHz, 1MB, 400MHz Bus, 125W, Boxed)
This one is weird, it's a bit more expensive, around 180, and then it jumps up to 700 bucks.
Is the Athlon X2 6000+ the same as the Athlon 64 X2 5600+
I've no clue.
And what kind of memory goes with that. You guys help me, please. I will stretch my anus for good advice.
A nice mobo (cheap) for it is
Asus M2A-VM HDMI, 690G (microATX, PCI-e, Sound, LAN, SATA II, RAID, VGA, 1394)
costs around 60 bucks.
Do soundcards nowadays have digital out? or preferably coaxial out.
The videocard comes later.

I'll do some reading for you and find you good stuff A
As for Intel over-heating that just means the cooler was crap! And probably the airflow within the case was also a dump.
Hmmm HTCP is a whole different game than a regular pc...
I think AMD will serve a purpose here since they are pretty cheap... I'l go read

Oh wait do you want to build just a regular PC for multimedia or a HTCP with a special case?

Motherboard
Gigabyte P35-DS3P
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400
PSU
Corsair VX450W
Cooler CPU
Scythe Ninja+ or Infinity /// ThermalTake BigTyphoon VX /// Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
Memory
2x1GB Kingmax 667
In Croatia this would cost around 550$ which means you could get these components cheaper. Now I go look for other parts!

As for the case I see around here for a mid tower that's pretty cheap and good they recommend
SHARKOON Rebel9 Economy-Edition
I'll probably be getting a Chieftec for myself. One of those with the HDD mount's with 3 slots for 92mm fans behind 'em.
http://www.chieftec.eu/index.php?option ... Itemid=250
now remember you'll need to shove a few fans inside it's butt. I don't have much experience on that field but I know
you need to put at least 1 120mm fan on it's anus side to flow the air out of it. Dunno how much holes for other side
fans this sharkoon has or if you'll need them....
As for the graphic card, I'd say grab a Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 mb or 640 mb DDR3, doesn't matter what brand since they
all have the same chip and shit. Look at the warranty and bundle to choose which one.
That should set you safe for HD viewing and playing games!
I think that would cost you somewhere between 600-700 euros all together, I think you have cheaper prices over there on
all these parts so it shouldn't be that expensive.
For HDD's look for Samsung's T166 spinpoint series or Western Digital AAKS series.
PS. you could go even cheaper on the Motherboard but I chose you this one since it has 2 Firewire ports unlike the cheaper models.
Also it supports the not-out-yet 45nm Intel proc's so you can upgrade later if you want!

Here's how my editing computer will be if anyone's interested:
MBO:
Gigabyte P35-DS4
CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
MEMORY:
DDR2 1GB PC5300 (667MHz) Kingmax X4
CASE:
Midi tower Chieftec LCX-01B-B-SL
POWER:
CORSAIR 620W
DRIVE:
LG GSA-H44N
CPU COOLER:
Thermaltake BigTyp VX
For graphics I'll take XFX, GeForce PCX 7900GS 600M cause the 8800 GTS 640 and 320 is a bit too expensive for me currently and the prices here are higher too.
For an MBO I'd personally rather take ABIT IP35 PRO but the 2 shops here that distribute them never have them so I'll settle with the good DS4!
The other computer (internet and video encoding) is the same but with a cheaper graphic card and a bigger case so i can fill it with 8 or more HDD's

That's a lot of stuff!!
But like I said, I dislike Intel, it proved to me again that they dont deliver what I want.
Last one I bought was a P2-400MHZ
Then I got an AMD Athlon 900MHZ, total crapper, overheated a lot of times. I even managed to get 95 degrees celcius out of it when the cpu cooler was broken.
But after that I always got fantastic results. Now with Intel and Vista, I'm in for a new treat and I dislike it so far.
Oh, the computer I will build wont have Vista ofcourse

I dislike my ass but I still squeeze turds out of it
There's no way to get overheating on that cheap machine I gave you, unless you totally fuck up while installing the cooler and not applying the thermal paste.
And since you wouldn't overclock... Anyways that's a pretty good and safe buy. It would even serve good for encoding too

I dont like your ass. Neither do I
I dont like Intel either
so
Now something else, I was talking to my brother about it.
How can I get my 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 sound from a soundcard to my Denon AVR-2106
None of the soundcards I know have Coax out or Optical out.
I would have to buy a cable like this:

Well soundblaster has 60 bucks cards that have optical out
So perhaps I found something, but I didn't want to spend more than 20 euros
It's this card and ofcourse nowhere for sale here.
Sure, I found cards with the same product name, but they looked totally different.
I'm gonna fuck my dog and then my pillow
I know I will get some good thinking out of it.

Pfff AMD AMD AMD
Just remember that if you ever plan to work with Avid's crap, you're better off with Intel
So anyways, I'll build you an AMD configuration then or something

Nah mate, I dont want you to cloud your judgement over things. You stick with Intel advice. I will sniff that crap up like coke.
I will keep in mind what you said about Intel good for Avid and stuff.

Without the memory it would be 300 euros.
that IS a nice price actually. I guess I've to buy your crap here from now on

Asus M2A-VM HDMI, 690G (microATX, PCI-e, Sound, LAN, SATA II, RAID, VGA, 1394)
58 euros
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (AM2, 2x2.8GHz, 2MB, 400MHz Bus, 89W, Boxed)
124 euros
OR
AMD Athlon X2 6000+ AM2, 3GHz, HT 1000MHz, 2MB, Retail
136 euros
OR, with a bogus price
AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 (AM2, 2x2.8GHz, 1MB, 400MHz Bus, 125W, Boxed)
177 euros Which is weird since there's a few shops having this one for that price, the rest is 700 euros!!
PSU
I can keep your choice unless they wont work on AMD boards
60 euros
COOLER CPU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro (Socket 754, 939, 940, AM2)
14 euros
OR
Thermaltake Blue Orb FX
31 euros
I dunno
I pay less for the AMD since the mobo I want is only 58 euros and has HDMI out with the build in videocard (for now it will do, gaming stuff will come later)

For lower prices for AMD ... GIGABYTE MA69G-S3H seems to be the choice
As for PSU I don't think that has anything to do with either Intel or AMD

Well I've been calculating. I've to be between 400-500 euros and I've a good machine
No fast videocard yet, but fuck that. First I want to enjoy all them MKV releases
